Headteacher’s Welcome

“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
John 10:10

Welcome to St. Edmund’s CofE Primary & Nursery School.

Choosing a primary school is about far more than finding a place for your child to learn. It is about finding a community where they will be known, valued and inspired to flourish.

At St. Edmund’s, we believe every child is uniquely created by God, with gifts waiting to be discovered, talents waiting to be nurtured and a future filled with possibility. Our purpose is to help every child discover who they are, develop who they can become and leave our school with the confidence, character and knowledge to embrace whatever lies ahead.

Our Christian vision, ”…a journey to discover life in all its fullness” (John 10:10), is the foundation of everything we do. It shapes our curriculum, guides our leadership and influences every decision we make. It reminds us that education is not simply about preparing children for the next stage of school – it is about preparing them for life.

We have high expectations because we believe every child deserves the very best. We want our pupils to become confident readers, articulate communicators, curious thinkers and resilient learners. Just as importantly, we want them to become compassionate friends, courageous leaders, responsible citizens and young people who understand the importance of kindness, service and hope.

Our Sixcess Values – Respect, Responsibility, Compassion, Perseverance, Truth & Trust, and Justice & Forgiveness are woven into everyday life. They are not posters on a wall; they are values lived out through relationships, learning and service. They help create a culture where children feel safe to take risks, confident to ask questions and inspired to become the very best version of themselves.

Children only get one childhood.

That is why we believe school should be a place filled with joy, curiosity and opportunity. Alongside an ambitious curriculum, children enjoy music, sport, outdoor learning, leadership opportunities, collective worship, educational visits, creative experiences and moments that build memories for a lifetime. We want children to leave St. Edmund’s not only with excellent outcomes, but with stories they will still be telling years later.

Visitors often tell us that there is something special about St. Edmund’s. They notice the warm welcome, the positive relationships and the pride our children have in their school. They see classrooms where children are engaged, staff who genuinely care and a community where everyone is encouraged to flourish together.

It is an enormous privilege to serve as Headteacher of this remarkable school. Every day I see children demonstrating courage, compassion and perseverance. I see staff who go above and beyond to support every learner, and families who work alongside us to create the very best opportunities for their children.

Whether you are discovering St. Edmund’s for the first time or are already part of our school family, I hope our website gives you a glimpse of what makes this such a special place.

However, the best way to understand our school is to experience it…

I look forward to welcoming you to St. Edmund’s and to sharing with you how, together, we help every child begin their own journey to discover life in all its fullness.
