Spending time outdoors can play an important role in children’s wellbeing, learning, confidence and development.

However, busy routines, safety concerns and limited access to outdoor space can make it harder for families, schools and carers to prioritise time in nature.

Our latest #WakeUpWednesday guide shares simple, practical ideas to help children reconnect with the natural world, including:
• Noticing wildlife during everyday routines
• Taking familiar activities outside
• Creating mini adventures
• Growing plants or building nature at home
• Using technology to identify birdsong, insects and wildlife
• Supporting older children with independence and sensible risk-taking

As we reach the end of another wonderful academic year, we simply want to say one thing…

Thank you. 💙💛

St Edmund’s is so much more than a school. It is a community, and this year has reminded us just how fortunate we are to have so many people who believe in our children and our vision.

To our parents and carers - thank you for trusting us with your children each day, for your encouragement, support and partnership. Together, we help every child to flourish.

To our local businesses and sponsors - thank you for your generosity. Whether through donations, fundraising support, volunteering your time or providing opportunities for our children, you have helped make experiences possible that simply wouldn’t happen without you.

To St Edmund’s Church, our governors, volunteers, PTA, visitors, coaches, reading volunteers and everyone who has given their time so freely - thank you for enriching the lives of our pupils.

Because of your support this year, we have been able to celebrate so much together:

🌟 Outstanding academic success, including our strongest Key Stage 2 outcomes since the pandemic.
🌟 The continued development of our Early Years provision.
🌟 The growth of our Forest School, helping children develop confidence, resilience and a love of the outdoors.
🌟 New playground equipment, creating even more opportunities for children to play, imagine and thrive.
🌟 Incredible productions, sporting successes, residential visits, worship, enrichment opportunities and unforgettable moments that our children will remember for years to come.

Every achievement has been made possible because of the strength of our school community.

Our vision speaks of ‘life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10), and that vision can only become a reality when school, home, church and community work together.

We are incredibly proud of everything we have achieved together this year - and even more excited about what lies ahead.

💙 A huge thank you to Airnow Technology! 💙

We are incredibly grateful to Airnow Technology for their generous donation of brand-new iPads to St. Edmund’s C of E Primary and Nursery School.

These devices will make a real difference to our pupils by enhancing learning across the curriculum, supporting creativity, developing digital skills and ensuring even more opportunities for every child to flourish.

At St. Edmund’s, we believe in providing “a journey to discover life in all its fullness” (John 10:10). Partnerships like this help us equip our children with the tools they need to dream big, explore new possibilities and prepare confidently for the future.

It was wonderful to see some of our pupils proudly showcasing the new iPads today - they certainly couldn’t wait to get started! 📱✨

And just like that… we’ve reached the end of another incredible academic year. 💙💛

A huge congratulations to all of this week’s Special Mentions winners. Whether you’ve been recognised for your kindness, determination, responsibility, reading, writing or simply being an outstanding role model, you should all be incredibly proud of yourselves. 👏

We are especially proud that Foundation Stage received a whole-class Special Mention this week. What a fantastic way for our youngest learners to finish the year! 🌟

As we head into the summer holidays, we hope every member of our St. Edmund’s family enjoys a well-earned rest, makes wonderful memories and returns refreshed for another exciting year ahead.
