Pop-up Prayer Spaces

At St. Edmund’s CofE Primary & Nursery School, our vision is “…a journey to discover life in all its fullness” (John 10:10). This includes making time to pause, wonder, give thanks and reflect on the things that matter to us.
Our ‘Pop-up Prayer Space’ initiative offers children creative ways to explore prayer and reflection through simple, meaningful activities.
Everyone is welcome. Children can pray, reflect or simply be still.
A space to pause
Our pop-up prayer spaces will bring changing themes and activities to our existing prayer areas. These might invite children to give thanks, share their hopes, think about others or reflect on peace and forgiveness.
Children may respond through drawing, writing, a practical activity or quiet thought. Where appropriate, they can add a prayer or reflection to our shared display, helping it grow through their contributions.
Rooted in our Christian ethos, the spaces welcome children of all faiths and none. Taking part is invitational: children do not have to pray, write anything or share their personal thoughts.
Led by our children
Our Collective Worship Leaders will help organise and lead the initiative, supported by school staff.
They will help choose themes and resources, prepare activities, introduce them during collective worship and welcome other children. They will also gather suggestions to help shape future pop-ups.
Through this responsibility, our leaders can put our Sixcess Values into practice – showing respect for different responses, compassion for others and responsibility for creating a welcoming space.
Living our vision
Our prayer spaces reflect our commitment that:
Every Child is Known.
Every Child is Valued.
Every Child is Inspired.
Every Child can Flourish.
By giving children time, choice and a voice, we aim to create opportunities for them to explore their own thoughts, consider the needs of others and develop their spiritual lives.
Pause. Reflect. Pray. Everyone is welcome.
