John (10:10)

…a Journey to discover life in all its fullness.

At St. Edmund’s Church of England Primary and Nursery School, everything we do begins with our Christian vision:

“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
John 10:10

These words were spoken by Jesus and lie at the heart of everything we believe about education.

For us, education is about far more than academic success. It is about helping every child discover who they are, develop their unique gifts and talents, build meaningful relationships, overcome challenges and make a positive difference in the world.

We call this:

A Journey to Discover Life in All Its Fullness.

Our vision shapes every decision we make, every relationship we build and every opportunity we provide.

Why John 10:10?

To understand our vision, it helps to understand the story behind it.

Before Jesus speaks these famous words, He heals a man who had been blind from birth (John 9). Rather than celebrating this miracle, some religious leaders rejected the man and excluded him from the community.

Jesus went to find him.

In the next chapter, Jesus explains why.

He describes Himself as the Good Shepherd.

Unlike leaders who exclude, ignore or harm others, the Good Shepherd:

  • knows every sheep by name;
  • protects them;
  • guides them;
  • seeks those who are lost;
  • welcomes everyone into His flock;
  • leads them towards life in all its fullness.

This beautiful picture shapes everything we believe about education.

Every child deserves to be known.

Every child deserves to belong.

Every child deserves to flourish.

Just as the Good Shepherd knows every sheep by name, we seek to know every child as an individual, recognise their unique gifts and remove barriers that prevent them from thriving.

Our vision is therefore much more than a Bible verse. It is our commitment to creating a school where everyone experiences hope, belonging, dignity and opportunity.

Just as the Good Shepherd walks alongside His sheep, we walk alongside every child throughout their journey at St. Edmund’s.

At St. Edmund’s Church of England Primary and Nursery School, our Christian vision is more than words displayed on a wall.

It is the foundation of every decision we make, every relationship we build and every opportunity we create.

Together, we journey towards life in all its fullness, ensuring every child is known, valued, challenged and inspired to flourish.
