A world of wonder. A place to belong. A journey to flourish.
At St. Edmund’s CofE Primary and Nursery School, our Nursery – also known as Foundation 1- is where children take their first steps on “…a journey to discover life in all its fullness” (John 10:10).
Starting Nursery is an important milestone. We work with families to help children feel safe, known and valued, building the confidence to explore, develop friendships and try something new.
Learning through play and discovery
Our Nursery is part of our Early Years provision, where thoughtfully planned spaces encourage children to investigate, create and grow in independence.
Children enjoy construction, imaginative role play, creative activities, stories, songs and practical exploration. Our adults join children in their learning, introducing new vocabulary, asking questions and helping them develop their ideas. Short, focused activities build early communication, literacy and mathematical skills.
Outdoor learning offers further opportunities for discovery. Our outdoor spaces include a pirate ship, planting areas and a storytelling garden, helping children explore the world around them and develop their physical skills.
