Helping Every Child Flourish

At St. Edmund’s CofE Primary and Nursery School, our Christian vision is “…a journey to discover life in all its fullness” (John 10:10).

We believe every child should be known, valued and supported to flourish. Pupil Premium funding helps us remove barriers so that disadvantaged pupils can achieve well, take part fully in school life and develop confidence, resilience and aspiration.

What is Pupil Premium?

Introduced in 2011, the Pupil Premium is funding provided by the Government to help improve the educational outcomes of disadvantaged children. Research shows that children from low-income families often face barriers such as limited language and communication skills, reduced family support, lack of confidence, and issues with attendance and punctuality.

This funding is designed to address these challenges and narrow the achievement gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers.

It is allocated based on the number of eligible pupils but is not a personal pot of money for individual children. Instead, the school decides how best to use the funding to meet the needs of eligible pupils and improve outcomes across the school.
